Triquetra Brass Trio

About Us

Triquetra Brass Trio {TRY-KEH-TRAH} are a Scotland-based ensemble with a passion for taking music into the wider community. We believe professional standard music making should be accessible to all and have seen first-hand how beneficial live music can be to our lives.

We pride ourselves on creating bespoke programmes and workshops for each audience and enjoy introducing new pieces, as well as those more familiar, to our listeners and participants.

The group's concert programmes include original works written for brass trio as well as a plethora of their own arrangements of repertoire from the traditional music, pop, rock and classical music scene.

If you are an artist, composer or arranger and would like to collaborate with Triquetra Brass, we would love to hear from you!

Originally from East London, Emily first began playing the cornet at age 8, attending the Newham Academy of Music. At age 11 she won a place in the National Children’s Wind Sinfonia and progressed through the organisation, winning a seat in the prestigious National Youth Wind Ensemble of Great Britain.

Emily is a graduate of both the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, completing her Bachelor of Music (Honours) and Master of Music (Distinction) degrees respectively and in 2020, Emily furthered her performance studies by attending The Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland as part of the ERASMUS+ programme. Whilst studying at the conservatoire in Wales, she was the recipient of a ‘Universal Music UK Sound Foundation’ Scholarship and gained places on apprenticeship schemes with the Welsh National Opera and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Emily enjoys a varied performing and teaching career and is involved in a vast amount of educational work, including Early Years work, orchestral and chamber coaching and as a music tutor for Glasgow Council's CREATE programme. As a freelance musician, she has played with orchestras such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Scottish Ballet and the Welsh National Opera.

Emily has held a post as conductor and instrumental instructor for the Kings Park Youth Brass Band and as of August 2023, also became the Musical Director of the Kings Park Brass Band (senior).
